Lazise can boast a really interesting record: it was the first of the free Italian municipalities, obtaining autonomy by Emperor Otto II, more than a thousand years ago, in 983.
Hence the more recent history of the country, from the medieval period of which traces remain in the castle and in Scaliger walls, then to the Venetian era, which has left a very important relic in the wonderful old customs house, now used as a conference centre.
The territory of Lazise includes the lakeshore and a vast hinterland consisting of morainic hills that gently descend towards the lake, between olive groves and vineyards dotted with cypress rows.
The hotels are located in the historic center, leaving the structure of the village unchanged, as well as in the surrounding area.
